We often read aloud books in our classrooms cover to cover, leaving little room for conversation and a lot of room for withdrawal of students. Amplify your read alouds with Active Reading! Active Reading is the practice of reading aloud a children's book by asking questions, building vocabulary, and connecting to the child's world. Attend this session to learn tips to elevate your reading in the classroom setting, as well as easy tips to share with families to improve reading at home. You will see the "ABCs of Active Reading" modeled with an interactive read aloud, and then we will spend time practicing so you will feel ready to amplify your read alouds in your classroom!
